World AIDS Day Date in India- When is World AIDS Day Celebrated Every Year ?

World AIDS Day is celebrated on 1st December every year, is dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS virulent disease caused by the spread of HIV infection. Government and health officials, non-governmental organizations and individuals around the world observe the day, often with education on AIDS prevention and control.

World AIDS day theme for 2015 is ‘Getting to zero’ and this theme is continuing from the year 2011. The World Aids DAY 2018 falls on the day of Saturday.

Why World AIDS Day is celebrated in India?

As per survey of year 2013, the virulent disease AIDS has killed more than 36 million people worldwide and an estimated 35.3 million people are living with HIV infected. India is world’s 2nd largest country by population and so many people are uneducated and they are not aware about HIV and AIDS which can lead to a drastic result. The youth of India and some uneducated people are needed to be guided for AIDS and its prevention.

People can show their support for people living with HIV on World AIDS Day by wearing a red ribbon which is the international symbol of HIV awareness and support.

World AIDS Day History
World AIDS Day was first declared by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations General Assembly in 1988. Since then, it has progressively become one of the most successful ‘international days’ for raising awareness on a global issue.
