Keshubhai Patel's new political party's name is 'Gujarat Parivartan Party'
Keshubhai Patel, one of the founder and leaders of the BJP (Bharatiya
Janta Party) in Gujarat, on Saturday resigned from the party to float a new
party to contest the coming assembly elections in Gujarat. Keshubhai Patel is used
considered as the most powerful political leader of strong 'Patel' community in
the Gujarat State.

Patel, said he had given six decades and Kashiram Rana five decades of their public life to the party, in
which they worked like a family. He is unhappy with the way the party functions
now. "For the last 10 years, I was watching how Narendra Modi Government
was undermining the BJP's beliefs, democracy and constitutional authorities,
including the courts. On Saturday Keshubhai Patel said “There is no BJP in
Gujarat”.
Keshubhai Patel's decision to float a new political
party could see a realignment of anti-Modi forces in the state months ahead of
the assembly polls with Mahagujarat Janata Party of former state minister Gordhan Zadafia likely to amalgamate
with it. Mr. Gordhan Zadafia has already announced that if Keshubhai Patel
formed a new party, he would merge his MJP with the new outfit.
