Ramkrishna Mission was founded by swami Vivekanand for social services. He named this institute with his 'GURU' Ramkrishna Paramhanse. In India there are various institutes of Ramkrishna Mission and one of them is in Porbandar. Very beautiful place with garden, hall, library and a large ground.

Ramakrishna Mission Activities in Probandar

- Ramakrishna Math facility available to student a library and a free reading room, with 16,625 books and 59 periodicals. The Library remains open from 4 pm to 7 pm except on Mondays. No membership fee is charged from the public except for a refundable deposit of Rs. 100 from elderly members and Rs. 25 from the children if they want to borrow books. The Library is becoming quite popular, more than 1300 members have already been enrolled.

- A charitable dispensary with allopathic, ayurvedic, homoeopathic and physiotherapy sections : 9114 cases were treated during the year.

- Seven eye-camps (822 persons were treated, out of which 168 were operated on). Beside, ayurvedic and dental camps (101 patients treated) were also conducted. Free eye Camps are organised almost every month.

- A cultural unit, named Vivekananda Institute of Value Education and Culture (VIVEC), which conducted seminars, classes on value education, etc (5840 students and 139 teachers participated).

- A permanent exhibition on Swami Vivekananda.

- Annual competitions, seminars and various cultural Programmes.

- Welfare work by way of providing monetary help to the needy.

- Religious activities: Regular prayers, religious discourses, retreats, and celebration of the birthdays of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda, as also Christmas Eve.

Programmes on Value Education for managers, executives, teachers and students are organised from time to time in the Ashrama space and educational institutions. Competitions on Speech, Essay etc are organized every year on the occasion of Swami Vivekananda's birthday and the prizes are given to successful candidates. Felicitation ceremony for giving prizes to the brilliant students is also held every year.
