Gujarati Film Industry has started in 9th April 1932 with release of Film “Narsinh Mehta”. The Film was directed by ‘Nanubhai Vakil’. It was based on life of Narsinh Mehta a saint in Gujarat.
A historical Film “Gunsundari” which was released thrice has been a huge success. From this Movie famous Bollywood actress Nirupa Roy debuted. Movie was based on Life of a woman.
A turning point of Gujarati Film Industry was a movie called “Akhand Saubhgyavati” starring Bollywood actress Asha Parekh. Movie got grand success. Other famous movies were Tanariri, Bhavni Bhavai, Manvi Ni Bhavai, Dariyachhoru, Desh re Joya re Dada Pardesh Joya.Gujarati Film Production is making on large scale.
