Barack Obama to Visit India as Chief Guest of 2015 Republic Day Celebration in Delhi
US President Barack Obama will visit India on upcoming Republic Day in January 2015. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has invited US President to visit India during Republic Day in 2015. Barack Obama accepted Indian PM’s invitation and set 3 days’ visit. He will be the first US President to be honoured as the chief guest at India's Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi.
Barack Obama will arrive for 3 days in India on 25 January 2015. On the first day of his visit, the American president and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold comprehensive talks on the entire gamut of bilateral ties and discuss ways to enhance cooperation in key components, including civil nuclear and defense pacts.
On second day of the visit 26 January 2015, Obama will attend the Republic Day parade and later will take part in Indo-US CEO roundtable with Indian PM Narendra Modi. 26 January is India’s republic day where US President will be chief guest.
On the final day of the visit, Obama is expected to address a town hall. However, the time and place have not been finalized so far. The US President Obama will visit Taj Mahal in Agra with his wife Michelle.
India traditionally invites a head of state to participate as chief guest at Republic Day celebrations that culminates in a military parade. Last year's chief guest was the then Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
