Meaning of Purple Cap in IPL - Purple Cap Award in Indian Premier League Cricket Matches

Indian Premier League is a T20 cricket league played in India every year since year 2008. The winners of IPL and semifinalists are paid such a big amount that makes IPL more charming. On the day of final match of IPL season, the winning prizes and awards are given to the players.

Meaning of Purple Cap in IPL :

Purple Cap award is given to the bowler who has the most wickets in his tally on each day during complete IPL season. Purple cap award can be named as the bowler of the tournament. The Purple cap winner bowler will have the honour of wearing the purple cap on the field.

At the end of the season, the holder of the Purple Cap will get the honour of being called the Winner of the Purple Cap and he will receive recognition on the final day of IPL season. In the case of a tie at any given time, the holder will be determined by superior economy rate.

IPL Purple Cap Design :

Purple cap is a cap with purple color and having name of award in the golden name plate. In IPL season 7 2014 Chennai Super Kings team’s Mohit Sharma has won the IPL Purple cap award as he had 23 wickets in his tally at the end of tournament.

Purple Cap award in IPL season needs to record performance of bowler after every match so it boosts up the IPL players to play more beautifully next time.
