Orchard Palace in Gondal Gujarat was built as a family residence in the late-19th century to host personal guests of the Maharajas. Orchard palace was formerly known as the Huzoor Palace which is the current royal residence.
Orchard Palace’s one wing is opened for public. It is known as the Orchard Palace because of its huge surroundings of fruit orchards, lawns and gardens. The Room of miniatures is a splendid sitting room with a collection of miniature paintings, brass, and antique furniture.
Converted into a seven-room heritage hotel, Orchard Palace is appointed with 1930s and ‘40s art deco furniture, antiques and handicrafts.There is one railway couch available for public view in this palace. More than 80 peacocks and peahens inhabit the gardens, and a variety of other birds can be watched while walking around the grounds.
One of the highlights of the Orchard palace is the Rail Saloon of the royal family of Gondal. This saloon has been converted into a suite for a couple or a family to stay with drawing room, dining room and bedroom, beautifully finished with inlaid wood, and English washrooms with a telephonic shower.
