Tata Megapixel - New Global Electric Car Launch in India 2012 Price Photos

Tata Motors India has not made any official statement about the launch of Megapixel in India, but it is expected that it will be launched in India in 2015 in a price range of 4.0 lakhs to 4.5 lakhs. The company has also displayed Pixel at the Auto Expo 2012 in New Delhi. It is now to be seen that how Indian customers react to a petrol-electric car because Ratan Tata's Nano project proved to be unsuccessful and the sale of Nano is declined day by day. But with recent launch of Nano 2012, the sale of Nano is improving again and it is now in top ten best selling cars in India.

The car's electric drive has four independent electric motors, one at each wheel.

Realistically such products take at least 3 years to develop. There are lots of electric technologies to be developed, besides many other things, Tata Group Chairman Ratan Tata said after unveiling the vehicle here at the Geneva Motor Show.

The vehicle combines a lithium ion phosphate battery and an on-board petrol engine generator for recharging on the move. According to the company, Tata Megapixel offers a range of up to 900 km (with a single tank of fuel) and fuel economy of 100 km/liter (under battery only power).

Among other features, the Megapixel's electric drive has four independent electric motors, one at each wheel. To make parking easier, the electric hub motors drive the wheels in opposite directions, while the front wheels are turned at an acute angle, enabling a 2.8 meter turning radius.
